Horka®

CHARACTERISTICS

It is a strong competitor for the mid-season varieties of sweet cherries – excels them in fruit size and stable, good fruiting.

ORIGIN

The Czech Republic, Van - free pollination

GROWTH

The growth is rather strong. The tree creates a wide crown.

BLOSSOM / POLINATORS

It bloomsmedium early. Pollinators: E. Korvik, Burlat, Christiana, Justyna, Kordia, Sandra, Summit. In practice, we do not observe Monila laxa.

GATHER

The 4th cherry week, a little bit earlier than Techlovan. The fruits ripen evenly.

FRUIT

Very large, 10-12g, on average 1g bigger than Techlovana's fruits, and on Gisela5 56% bigger than Kordia’s fruits. The fruit is kidney shaped, firm, sweet-sour and very tasty. Cracking can occur, but much smaller than in susceptible varieties. The stem is medium in length. The fruits spread evenly on the branches.

USEFULNESS

It offers very high quality fruit at the time when medium-sized cherries dominate the supply. After 11 years of observation, we find that the variety fruity steadily, every year on a good medium level - also on Colt.
